The Papaya is a tropical houseplant that loves warmth, plenty of light, and a sheltered spot. Place the plant in a warm location and avoid drafts or large temperature fluctuations. With the right care, the Papaya grows relatively quickly and develops large, decorative leaves. The Papaya is not winter-hardy and is therefore only suitable as a houseplant or for a heated conservatory.
Water needs of the Papaya - 50cm
The Papaya likes lightly moist potting soil but cannot tolerate soggy roots. Let the top layer of soil dry out slightly before watering again. During the growing season, the plant will need more water than during the winter months.
Light needs of the Papaya - 50cm
The Papaya prefers a very bright spot with plenty of direct sunlight. The more light the plant receives, the better it will grow and the more attractive its leaves will remain. A spot by a sunny window is therefore ideal. If the plant gets too little light, growth will slow down and the leaves may stay smaller.
